Orange Beach, AL – I decided that this was as good of a reason to take off on the Harley, and head south to one of my favorite places to visit. The beach!
The World Food Championships have begun in Orange Beach Alabama. The Championships will highlight some of the most iconic cuisines from around the globe.
The location of this year’s event, the fifth in a row with two more years to come, is happening at The Wharf on Canal Road, a popular restaurant and retail development with condominiums and entertainment venues.
Categories include: Barbeque, Chili, Sandwich, Steak, Burger, Dessert, Bacon, Seafood and Recipe.
The theme for the Recipe category this year is Breakfast. Competitors have qualified throughout the year at various food competitions, bringing them to this $300,000 event.
This is a tournament style competition with sanctioned and celebrity judging that will identify the winners of each category. Once that has been done, then the winners will vie at the Final Table and the opportunity to take home a pile of cash.
Orange Beach Chamber of Commerce officials say this is one of the most popular events held throughout the year, drawing thousands of visitors to the area during the “off season” for the popular vacation destination.
The Competition kicked off today and will continue through the weekend, with visitors able to interact with some of the finest “food competitors” in the world.
Clarksville Online will have daily updates on this year’s competition, and maybe you will mark this on your calendar for next year and taste what the world has to offer in one of the country’s most popular sun drenched destinations.
