Dodging the RoadkillClinton, South Carolina — I was traveling to Pawley’s Island, South Carolina when I “hit the wall” in Clinton, South Carolina. I had been on the Harley for 10 hours and was beat.

I slipped off the interstate to find a Quality Inn.  I have stayed at these facilities before and found them to be clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced.

Bikers are looking for a decent room at a very good price.  Somewhere between $50-$70 dollars is where I usually land.  I’m looking for a clean comfortable room, a couple of towels, clean bathroom and wi-fi.

When I checked in, the front desk clerk was not the most “bubbly” of clerks.  She admitted to having a bad day and wasn’t being too personable, but at this point of my day, I just wanted a room, and a hot shower.

The price was a little higher than some, but I checked in.  The room was clean and fresh.  The mattress was TOO firm, but I could sleep on it for one night.  The sheets were clean and fresh and there were several pillows.   The bathroom was VERY clean and there were plenty of towels and cloths.  The big screen TV was nice and there was a good channel selection. The continental breakfast was average, but had what I wanted.  Good coffee, cereal and bread items.

There’s a fitness center and it’s pet friendly.  There’s also a pool.

The facility was undergoing some renovation at the time I stayed, so there were areas roped off, but not too inconvenient.

Overall, you won’t be disappointed to stay here.  I can look past a “grumpy” front desk clerk for a nice room.  I would rate it a 71/2 on a scale of 10.

Your food choices are limited at this Interstate exit.  You will have to drive about five minutes into Clinton for options, although, there’s a local seafood restaurant next door to the motel.  Look for my review on the website.
