Dodging the RoadkillClarksville, Tn — I’ve just come out of the Christmas holiday with much optimism.  I enjoyed great time with family and friends, and I’m expecting a new grandson most any day now.

But what I’m most excited about is that we’ve just had the Winter Solstice which means, the days are getting longer.  For bikers, there isn’t anything more exciting than having more daylight to ride.

That doesn’t mean that the winter temperatures will cooperate, but hey, we’ve got gear for that.

I always feel rejuvenated after the holidays.  It’s a great time to “refresh” our own personal “browsers” and make plans for the coming days and weeks.  Whether it’s personal fitness, losing weight, lifting weights, or quitting smoking.  Now is the time to take that energy and make commitments toward a better time ahead.  I don’t look at this as a “New Year’s” resolution, because we all know that those don’t seem to pan out.

What it means for me is, change and change is hard, but have energy from the holidays and excitement for the future and we want to RIDE!

I personally start taking stock in my health.  I then start mapping out places I would like to visit this year.  How long will each trip take?  What’s the best time to travel there and so forth.

With longer days coming, I feel a sense of needing to work longer.  To keep my creative juices flowing.

Where are there some places I’ve never been?  Maybe I’ll go there this year?

What festivals do I want to visit?

I love to plan things and this is my favorite time of the year.  Taking stock at what’s laying before me with the coming new year.  Almost like having the “pick of the litter” before everybody else gets here.

I have friends in Texas, Arizona, California, Las Vegas and points west.  I’ve got to visit Brothers don’t I?

Of course!

Anyway, this is a special week for me.  Waiting on a new baby and planning the direction I will travel.

I’ve heard from many of you from New Mexico, Colorado, Washington and the Dakotas.  I want to visit there!

Choices! Choices!

Let’s all make plans for a better year, not only in our personal life, but in our BIKER life!  After all, the days ARE getting longer!
